Lance Naik Charan Singh (retd), a distinguished World War II veteran, marked a century of life on Saturday. The Army, celebrating his 100th birthday at his Himachal Pradesh home, commemorated his 17 years of service, which earned him the prestigious Burma Star Award.

Born on September 7, 1924, Singh's enlistment in the Indian Army began on August 26, 1942, at Firozepur Cantonment. His military career saw him serve across Singapore and Lahore, finally culminating at Yol Cantonment in Himachal Pradesh.

Singh's retirement on May 17, 1959, concluded a journey of valor and dedication. His centennial celebration highlighted the Army's commitment to honor its veterans, illustrating the motto: 'Once a soldier, always a soldier.'
