Renowned Bengali filmmaker and actor Arindam Sil faces suspension by the Directors' Association of Eastern India (DAEI) following a complaint of sexual misconduct lodged by an actress. The actress alleged that Sil's misbehavior occurred while he was explaining a scene during a film shoot.
In response to the allegations, DAEI issued a letter on Saturday, stating Sil's suspension came into force immediately due to prima facie evidence causing deep concern and tarnishing the organization's image. Sil, however, contends that no one objected to his conduct at the time, explaining that the incident was inadvertent.
The DAEI took action after the actress filed a complaint with the West Bengal Commission for Women. Although Sil apologized in a letter to the commission and argued that his actions were misunderstood, the DAEI decided to suspend him without allowing him to present his case. The actress remains resolute, expressing full faith in the commission's investigation.
