Ganesh Puja was celebrated in Odisha on Saturday with immense religious fervor and enthusiasm.
Revellers energetically engaged in pandal hopping across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and other parts of the state. Educational institutions adorned themselves for the occasion, and about 50 grand puja marquees in the state's capital enhanced the festivity.
The celebration extended to cities like Jatani, Berhampur, and Talcher. Former chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, visited community pujas and wished the citizens. The Ganesh Puja takes place on the fourth day of the Sukla Pakshya in the Odia month of Bhadraba, when devotees worship Lord Ganesh as the 'Bigha Nasak' or the destroyer of all evils, and pray for prosperity.
Cuttack featured eco-friendly idols which will be immersed following a noise-free and alcohol-free procession on September 17, as per the police guidelines. The authorities have also mandated the installation of CCTV cameras around the marquees and the deployment of volunteers to ensure security.
