The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has called for a significant meeting on September 16, aiming to address the pressing issue of sexual and other abuses prevalent in the film industry, a top official announced on Friday.

KFCC's president, N M Suresh, revealed the meeting follows a mandate from the Karnataka State Commission for Women. Initially suggested for September 13, the date was adjusted to accommodate festival schedules and shooting plans. The final date will be confirmed on September 9.

The Film Industry for Rights & Equality (FIRE) noted that Karnataka's Women and Child Welfare Minister, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, has vowed stringent actions against casting couch offenders. Bipartisan support has been evident, with BJP's Manjula C and Congress's Soumya Reddy endorsing the movement. FIRE continues to spearhead reforms, urging the chief minister to form a committee to tackle sexual harassment in the industry.
