Ticketmaster's 'Dynamic Pricing' Under Scrutiny Amid Oasis Ticket Controversy

Britain's competition watchdog has launched an investigation into Ticketmaster over the sale of Oasis reunion tickets. The probe focuses on the use of 'dynamic pricing,' which saw ticket costs jump significantly for fans at the last minute.

Fans had to endure long virtual queues, with many expecting to pay an advertised rate of £148.50 ($195.10). Instead, they were forced to pay as much as £355.20. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will examine whether Ticketmaster breached consumer protection laws.

The CMA is also scrutinizing if Ticketmaster engaged in 'unfair commercial practices' and whether fans were informed about the potential for price changes. Fans have been asked to submit evidence of their experiences, while Ticketmaster is yet to comment. Meanwhile, Oasis stated that the pricing decisions were solely down to promoters and management.
