The 108-minute Kannada movie, based on U.R. Ananthamurthy's short story, was showcased in the festival's Venice Classics section on September 4. The restoration, conducted in Italy, was a collaborative effort between Martin Scorsese's The Film Foundation and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur of FHF, with funding from George Lucas and Mellody Hobson's Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation.

Attending the screening were Kasaravalli and Dungarpur, with the film receiving positive acclaim. 'Ghatashraddha,' exploring themes of Brahmin orthodoxy and personal anguish, featured actors like Meena Kuttappa and Narayana Bhat. The Venice Film Festival continues until September 7.
