A 90-year-old ex-serviceman was beaten to death allegedly by his grandson following a monetary dispute in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area, police informed on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Bhojraj, had a quarrel with his grandson Pradeep, aged 35, on Monday evening at Azadpur village. The argument, reportedly over the distribution of money from Bhojraj's pension and rental income, escalated when Pradeep allegedly assaulted and pushed him to the ground.

Bhojraj, who was critically injured, was admitted to LNJP hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Tuesday. A police officer noted that Bhojraj had retired as a havildar in the Indian Army and used to equally distribute his earnings among his sons each month.

A case of murder has been registered at Adarsh Nagar police station. Authorities have formed teams to apprehend Pradeep as a part of the ongoing investigation.
