More than 100 influential figures in the film industry have called on the Karnataka government to establish a committee headed by a retired judge to tackle sexual harassment issues within the Kannada film sector.

A letter addressed to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and endorsed by 153 film professionals, including notable actors Kiccha Sudeep and Ramya, urged a comprehensive investigation into the systemic challenges faced by women, particularly concerning sexual harassment.

The letter, dated September 4, follows the impactful Justice K Hema Committee report that has caused a stir in the Malayalam film industry. FIRE, spearheaded by director and screenwriter Kavita Lankesh, is at the forefront, advocating for reforms post the #metoo movement.
