Hilton has revealed plans to surpass 150 luxury hotels in the Asia Pacific region in the next few years, marking a significant expansion driven by new openings, notably in India.

The company's ambitious aim to quadruple its luxury portfolio by the end of 2023 seeks to tap into the surge in luxury travel and an increased desire among tourists to explore their heritage. 'From Tokyo to the Maldives, Shanghai to Jaipur, the luxury segment is growing exponentially, and Hilton's luxury brands are poised to capture this significant opportunity,' commented Alan Watts, Hilton Asia Pacific President.

The addition of properties such as Lanson Place Causeway Bay in Hong Kong and Gangtey Lodge in Bhutan highlights Hilton's growth momentum in Asia Pacific. The recent signing of Waldorf Astoria Jaipur and Conrad Yokohama further reinforces this trend. Over the next two years, Hilton will launch seven Waldorf Astoria properties in key cities, including Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, and Sydney.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts are also expanding in China and Japan. Hilton attributes its robust growth to the booming luxury travel market and a growing demand for unique travel experiences. According to Hilton's 2024 Trends Report on GenerAsian Travelers, 77% of respondents from China, India, Japan, and Singapore are keen on exploring their heritage through travel, with 75% eager to learn about other Asian cultures. Additionally, 88% ranked local and traditional cuisine as their top priority. 'As these trends intersect, we are excited to offer cutting-edge experiences that surprise, delight, and inspire our guests,' said Candice D'Cruz, Vice President of Hilton Asia Pacific Luxury Brands.
