Australian television star Robert Irwin, son of the late wildlife expert Steve Irwin, is strengthening his collaboration with Prince William to tackle environmental issues, according to People. Irwin has been appointed as a Global Ambassador for Prince William's Earthshot Prize, continuing his steadfast support for the initiative aimed at solving critical global environmental challenges.

Irwin, 20, attended last year's Earthshot Prize ceremony in Singapore and has been a consistent advocate since the program's inception. He joins South African actor and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha as one of the inaugural Earthshot Global Ambassadors, extending the prize's influence. The Earthshot Prize, established in 2020 by Prince William and biologist David Attenborough, recognizes five winners annually for their environmental contributions.

Inspired by his late father, Irwin and his family passionately back their Wildlife Warriors foundation, which works to protect endangered species through Australia Zoo. Prince William's Earthshot Prize honors groundbreaking ideas and innovations across five categories: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate. Irwin expressed his honor in joining Mbatha to spotlight inspiring changemakers combating planet-linked challenges.

Irwin emphasized the Earthshot Prize as a symbol of hope for environmental care and a sustainable future. He praised Prince William's influential role in driving positive environmental change. The Earthshot Prize extended its council with new members to select this year's winners, including humanitarian Jose Andres, environmentalist Wanjira Mathai, and indigenous activist Nemonte Nenquimo. The award ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa, in November, will grant $1.3 million to support innovative environmental solutions, as reported by People.
