Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek of its upcoming slate of films and series originating from South Africa. The announcement, made on Tuesday at MIP Africa, was delivered by Ben Amadasun, Netflix's vice president of content for the Middle East and Africa, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

The new titles underscore Netflix's pledge to showcase 'diverse and authentic local stories by local storytellers to global audiences.' Amadasun expressed his enthusiasm, stating, 'We are incredibly excited to continue strengthening our relationships with our production partners in South Africa and bringing diverse and authentic local stories by local storytellers to our local and global audiences.'

Amadasun highlighted that South African stories have resonated not only locally but internationally, gaining fans worldwide. 'This is only a small taste of what's to come next on Netflix as we continue our work to bring local South African and international stories to entertain our 278 million members around the world,' he added. Among the highlighted titles are 'Love Never Lies: South Africa,' 'Happiness Is,' 'Umjolo,' and 'Disaster Holiday.'

'Love Never Lies: South Africa,' debuting on November 29, will put six couples through trust tests using an eye-scanning lie detector. Produced by Rapid Blue, the show turns deception into financial losses and honesty into prizes.

'Happiness Is,' set to release on October 18, is a continuation of the popular romantic comedy series, following a group of friends as they navigate personal and relational challenges. Produced by Blingola Media with a strong female-led team, the film features Lesedi Siswana as producer and Bongiwe Selane as creative and executive producer.

'Umjolo,' a four-part anthology by Stained Glass TV, kicks off with 'Umjolo: The Gone Girl' on November 8. It tells the gripping story of a woman whose seemingly perfect life unravels after a devastating medical revelation. The anthology will release monthly installments through February 2025.

'Disaster Holiday,' from Burnt Onion Productions, the masterminds behind 'How to Ruin Christmas' and 'Seriously Single,' premieres on December 13. Directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela, the comedy follows a workaholic father attempting to prove his familial dedication during a chaotic vacation.
