Ugandan Marathon Runner Attacked in Domestic Dispute
Ugandan marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegui sustained severe burns after her boyfriend allegedly doused her with petrol. The incident occurred in Eldoret, Kenya, and has left Cheptegui in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the attack, which also injured her boyfriend, Daniel Ndiema Marangach.

Ugandan marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegui, who competed in last month's Paris Olympics, has endured severe burns to over 75% of her body following an alleged attack by her boyfriend, local media reported on Monday.
Cheptegui is in critical condition in a hospital in Eldoret, Kenya, after the Sunday afternoon incident, according to both Kenyan and Ugandan newspapers.
Trans Nzoia county police commander Jeremiah Ole Kosiom informed The Star newspaper that Cheptegui's boyfriend, Daniel Ndiema Marangach, was also burned in what has been described as a domestic dispute. Cheptegui, who is 33 and finished 44th in Paris, owns a house in Kenya where she trains. Authorities are currently investigating the attack.
