Jasdeep Singh Gill was named the new spiritual leader of Radha Soami Satsang Beas on Monday, an appointment confirmed by the current head, Gurinder Singh Dhillon.

The sect, which has numerous followers both domestically and internationally, frequently hosts visits from top political figures at its headquarters.

A senior Dera official clarified that Dhillon, who has been rumored to be unwell, is in good health. Following a morning meeting, Dhillon announced Gill as his successor.

The 45-year-old Gill, a chemical engineering doctorate from Cambridge and IIT Delhi alumnus, recently resigned from his role as chief strategy officer at Cipla. His involvement with the sect spans over 30 years.

RSSB secretary Devender Kumar Sikri detailed in a statement that Gill will officially become the sect's patron and Sant Satguru on September 2, 2024, succeeding Dhillon and receiving the authority to give initiation, also known as 'naam.'

Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon expressed his hope that Gill would receive the same support and affection from the community as he did.

Gill's father, Sukhdev Singh Gill, a retired colonel from the Indian Army, has been associated with the Dera for over two decades.
