Acclaimed actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya arrived in Chennai to witness the Formula 4-night street race, lauding the initiative for providing a platform to aspiring drivers. He expressed his gratitude towards the Chennai government and its residents for their support.

In his interaction with the media, Chaitanya stated, 'It's been a great experience. Never dreamt that something like this would ever happen in Chennai. I would really like to thank the Chennai government and Chennai people for supporting this sport.'

The actor emphasized how the Indian racing festival is offering young drivers opportunities previously out of reach. 'Motorsports sometimes back was not so accessible but now they are giving the seats to young budding drivers, giving them a promising future to look forward to,' Chaitanya added.

The Indian F1 qualifying rounds are currently in progress at the Chennai circuit, with additional events like the JK FLGB 4 Race and IRL qualifying for Driver A category lined up. Prominent personalities such as actor John Abraham and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly also attended the mega sports event on Sunday.

Tamil Nadu's Sports Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, flagged off the race on August 31. Various Tamil Nadu cabinet ministers and officials from the Sports Department were also present. The Indian Racing Festival 2024's Round 2 is set for August 31 and September 1 at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit, a 3.5-km track that loops around the Island Grounds near Marina Beach.

The route includes landmarks like the Victory War Memorial and Napier Bridge, facilitating a thrilling race experience. The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) is organizing the event, which aims to make history with more than 40 drivers competing on the streets of Chennai.

The street night circuit promises an unforgettable finale, marking a significant milestone in Indian motorsport. Drivers underwent a 'track walk' of the 3.5 km circuit on Saturday to familiarize themselves with its technical challenges, unanimously approving the layout.
