The Kerala government is set to unveil innovative projects aimed at supporting filmmakers and artists from less privileged backgrounds, including Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) communities, as part of its film policy, announced state Minister for Culture Saji Cherian on Friday.

Speaking at an event at Sree theatre marking the release of 'Churul,' a film by Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) aimed at empowering SC/ST filmmakers, Cherian emphasized the need for increased representation of these communities in cinema and highlighted the government's proactive support through new initiatives.

Cherian noted that KSFDC has already established a unique model by launching projects to support upcoming women directors and those from SC/ST communities. These efforts will be expanded to provide more opportunities. Additionally, the state has introduced several projects for the growth of Malayalam cinema, including the renovation of Chithranjali studio and KSFDC cinemas.
