Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stressed the foundational role of the Telugu language in preserving the state's civilization, culture, and traditions during an event on Thursday.

Marking the occasion of late Gidugu Ramamurthy's birth anniversary on August 29 as Telugu Language Day, Naidu underscored the importance of respecting and preserving the language. He emphasized that language is crucial for the future, citing Telugu's rich history and its status as the fourth most spoken language in India.

Naidu highlighted the rising significance of Telugu in the US, where it is the 11th most spoken language, debunking the notion that proficiency in English alone leads to success. He shared examples of Telugu individuals achieving professional success after learning English later in life.

The chief minister vowed to elevate the Telugu community globally and criticized locals for neglecting cultural practices like Kuchipudi dance, which remain cherished among overseas Telugus. He announced plans for government collaboration with the National School of Drama to set up a center in the state and to promote the Kuchipudi dance form.

Naidu assured that the government would emphasize learning English for career prospects while ensuring Telugu is taught for cultural sustenance. On this occasion, he presented awards to individuals who contributed to the language. Naidu reiterated the NDA government's commitment to rebuilding the state, restoring the glory of the Telugu language, and advancing the community's cultural heritage.
