V S Chandrasekharan, chairman of the KPCC legal aid cell, has resigned after being implicated in sexual abuse allegations brought forth by an actress.
According to sources within the Congress, Chandrasekharan handed in his resignation to Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president K Sudhakaran.
''In light of recent controversies, Adv V S Chandrasekharan has taken moral responsibility and resigned as Chairman of the KPCC Legal Aid Cell and President of the Lawyers' Congress State Committee,'' the KPCC stated.
The resignation follows a statement from V D Satheesan, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, who disclosed that action would be taken against Chandrasekharan.
The allegations surfaced in a Facebook post by the actress, who also accused four Malayalam film actors of similar abuse, spurred by the Justice Hema Committee Report exposing sexual harassment in the film industry.
