Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday directed officials of the tourism department to expedite the execution of key projects, including heliports and hotels.

Presiding over a meeting of the tourism department to review the ongoing projects, Sukhu asked the department to explore establishing a large convention center in Palampur with a capacity of at least 5,000 people. He noted that upgraded infrastructure is crucial for supporting significant gatherings and enhancing the state's tourism appeal.

The chief minister stressed the importance of completing these tourism projects, in a timely manner. He instructed that all heliports must adhere to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines, with detailed project reports (DPRs) to be finalized by the Public Works Department (PWD). Additionally, he reviewed the ongoing expansion work at Kangra airport.

Sukhu highlighted tourism as a vital sector for strengthening the state economy, providing livelihoods for thousands of families.
