Actor Emilia Clarke is set for a lead role in the espionage thriller 'Ponies'. Co-created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, Variety reports Clarke will also serve as executive producer.

Set against the backdrop of Moscow 1977, the series features two 'Ponies', individuals deemed insignificant in intelligence circles, who work as secretaries in the American Embassy. Following the mysterious deaths of their husbands, Bea (Clarke) and her cohort Twila become CIA operatives. This marks Clarke's second TV role in recent months, adding to her illustrious career that includes 'Game of Thrones', 'Criminal', and 'Secret Invasion'. On film, she has starred in 'Me Before You', 'Last Christmas', and 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'. She also made her West End debut in 2022 in Anya Reiss' adaptation of Anton Chekhov's 'The Seagull', as reported by Variety.
