Maruti Suzuki Faces Minor Delay in New Plant Site Finalization

Maruti Suzuki India is experiencing a minor delay in finalizing the site for a proposed new manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 10 lakh units. Despite this, the upcoming plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, remains on schedule to begin production by 2025-26, company Chairman RC Bhargava announced on Tuesday.
During the company's annual general meeting, Bhargava reiterated Maruti Suzuki's commitment to producing low-cost, small cars, which he deemed essential for India's economic and social conditions. He expressed optimism that demand for small cars would revive within the next two years.
Bhargava also addressed the company's environmental goals, noting the expected rollout of six electric vehicle models by FY30-31. He emphasized the importance of hybrid cars in reducing pollution and oil consumption. Lastly, Bhargava outlined Maruti Suzuki's roadmap to increase production to approximately 4 million units and boost exports to 7.5-8 lakh units annually by FY30-31.
