Sikkim CM Invites PM Modi for 50th Statehood Day Celebration

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday to discuss various matters concerning the state.
Tamang announced that he has invited Modi to be the chief guest at Sikkim's 50th Statehood Day celebration on May 16, 2025.
"Our meeting was profound and productive, covering various matters concerning our state. I also conveyed my heartiest greetings and best wishes to the Hon'ble Prime Minister on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami," Tamang posted on Facebook.
The 50th Statehood Day holds particular significance as it marks the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim's merger with India in 1975, symbolizing the fulfillment of long-held aspirations and integration into the democratic framework of the nation.
The state government has planned a year-long series of events to depict both pre- and post-merger history of Sikkim. Tamang highlighted the honor of having the PM accept the invitation, emphasizing that Modi's presence would enhance the significance of the occasion and offer a platform to showcase Sikkim's cultural heritage and natural beauty.
