Maharashtra Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde emphasized that the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is designed to ensure women's welfare, not to win votes, during a recent event in Yavatmal. Shinde highlighted that the scheme has already made the opposition uneasy, and called for women to support the Mahayuti to increase their monthly allowance to Rs 4,000.

Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present at the event. Fadnavis dismissed opposition claims that the scheme was inefficient, citing that 1.5 crore women have benefitted from it. Ajit Pawar added that the government is working swiftly to implement the Shakti Bill for women's safety.

Shinde also criticized the opposition for their response to the recent Badlapur sexual assault case, accusing them of politicizing the tragedy. The government, he stated, is taking strict actions and has initiated counselling programs in schools, aiming to ensure both women's welfare and safety.
