In a tragic turn of events, two young lovers attempted to end their lives by jumping in front of a goods train in Odisha's Kalahandi district on Tuesday. According to police, their relationship was disapproved by their families.

The girl, aged 17, succumbed to her injuries instantly, whereas the 21-year-old man sustained multiple injuries, including the severing of one of his legs.

Both individuals hailed from Kinerkella village. Following the incident, the goods train driver rushed the injured man to Titlagarh hospital. The Titilagarh GRP has registered a case and commenced an investigation into the matter.
