Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked Raksha Bandhan by presenting Aadhaar, ration, Ayushman, and Orunodoi cards to residents of a government old age home in Sonapur, near Guwahati.
Sarma, alongside Social Welfare Minister Pijush Hazarika and Dispur MLA Atul Bora, received rakhis and red roses from elderly residents as tokens of their gratitude.
The Chief Minister announced that doctors from the nearby civil hospital would visit the home monthly for free health check-ups. The new cards aim to provide identity proof, essential ration, cashless medical treatment, and financial assistance to the residents.
