India Pushes for Urgent Reform in Multilateral Institutions at Global South Summit
India has called for urgent reforms in multilateral institutions, including the United Nations, during the Voice of Global South Summit. India emphasized the urgent need to reform multilateral institutions during the third edition of the Voice of Global South Summit, attended by over 120 countries. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the pressing need to revitalize multilateralism for it to be credible.
Jaishankar pointed out that the inability to reform the United Nations and other multilateral bodies is costing the world each passing day. He reiterated India's consistent advocacy for reforms in institutions like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
The summit also focused on strengthening economic resilience, addressing climate change, and fostering democratized digital transformations. Jaishankar stressed the importance of reliable supply chains and called for greater access to low-cost financing and critical technologies for the Global South.
