An AI-powered tool named 'Ratatouille' developed at IIIT Delhi aims to revolutionize culinary creativity. Created by Prof. Ganesh Bagler and PhD scholar Mansi Goel, the AI-generated more than 1.18 lakh unique traditional recipes from 74 countries.
The tool, tested rigorously by a 24-member panel of chefs from IHM Delhi, achieved a 70% success rate in making recipes indistinguishable from human-created ones. Prof. Bagler notes, 'We presented chefs with AI-generated and traditional recipes. They couldn't reliably tell which were genuine.'
The project, published in Nature Partner Journal, seeks to assist chefs by generating new culinary ideas and making personalized recommendations. The tool also aims to help in creating meal kits and nutrition coaching. 'Ratatouille' is set to offer its capabilities as a B2B service and for non-profit purposes, despite challenges in data collection at an individual level.
