Lt Gen H S Sahi transferred the command of the Indian Army's renowned Spear Corps to Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar on Saturday.
Officials lauded Sahi's tenure marked by exemplary leadership and effectiveness. His efforts in modernising the Dimapur-based Spear Corps, enhancing operational readiness along the borders of India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, were pivotal. Sahi also spearheaded numerous infrastructure projects and joint training initiatives that improved inter-service coordination. His strategic approach was crucial in managing insurgencies and curbing illegal activities, including drug trafficking, in multiple northeastern regions.
His commitment was also evident during the Manipur ethnic conflict, where he emphasized dialogue over confrontation. Recognised for his outstanding service, Sahi was awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal by President Draupadi Murmu. As he transitions to his new role at the Army War College, Sahi leaves a legacy of enhanced operational readiness and commitment to peace in the northeastern states.
