Union communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday emphasized the enduring importance of the postal department amidst intense market competition, ensuring it remains prompt in citizen services.

Speaking at the release of commemorative postage stamps for the 23rd Olympic Games in Paris, Scindia highlighted the emotional connection the postal service maintains with the public.

In our modern, technologically advanced world, despite reliance on digital communications, the postal department's commitment to prompt service remains steadfast with innovations and new technology.

Alongside youth affairs and sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Scindia honored Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Sarabjot Singh, ex-cricketer Akash Chopra, and steeplechase athlete Sudha Singh.

Scindia unveiled stamps showcasing diverse Olympic events, marking the 38th instance in 56 years that sports stamps have been issued, symbolizing India's rich sporting heritage.

Mandaviya noted the presence of just six government officials accompanying 117 athletes to the Paris Olympics, focusing on supporting the participants rather than increasing bureaucratic presence.
