Bengali Film Industry in Turmoil: Technicians Boycott Amid Controversy

The Bengali film industry is facing turmoil after technicians boycotted the first day of shooting for an upcoming film involving Rahool Mukherjee as the creative producer. No technicians showed up at the city studio, even though the Directors' Guild had allowed Mukherjee to work in this capacity.

The Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI) recently clarified that Mukherjee's role as a creative producer is permitted but he cannot direct for three months due to a guideline violation. The controversy stems from Mukherjee's unauthorized visit to Bangladesh for patch shots of another film, angering the federation.

Prominent industry figures, including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Kaushik Ganguly, and Raj Chakraborty, voiced support for Mukherjee at the studio. They criticized the federation for impeding the creative process and warned of a broader directors' strike if the issue isn't resolved.
