Ahmedabad is set to host the 147th edition of Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra on July 7, with significant security measures in place to ensure the safety of lakhs of devotees.

An elaborate review meeting was conducted by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to assess the police department's preparedness for the event, according to an official release.

The meeting included prominent figures such as Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi and Director General of Police Vikas Sahay. During the session, Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police, GS Malik, highlighted various security arrangements, including the deployment of 18,784 personnel for the 16km route.

Security will be tight with 1,733 body-worn cameras linked to a control room, 20 drones, and 96 surveillance cameras at 47 locations. Additionally, 1,400 CCTV cameras installed by shopkeepers along the route will provide live surveillance.

For any medical emergencies, 16 ambulances and medical teams will be on stand-by, complemented by 17 help desks set up along the route to assist citizens.

The Rath Yatra will commence at 7 am from the 400-year-old Lord Jagannath temple in Jamalpur area, with decorated chariots, elephants, trucks, and local gymnasiums in procession, concluding by 8 pm.
