Shameless Season 9 Episode 8: 2 cast leaving the series, Last season having max episodes?

Since the airing of ‘Shameless’ Season 9’s episode 7 titled ‘Down Like the Titanic’ on October 21, 2018, fans have been wondering when episode 8 will be aired. Finally, it is announced that episode 8 titled ‘The Apple Doesn't Fall Far from the Alibi’ will be aired in January.

After the mid-season breakout, ‘Shameless’ Season 9 episode 8 will return to screen on January 20. Fans will be depressed to know that two of the show’s main characters, ‘Gotham’s’ recurring actor Cameron Monaghan and ‘Before I Disappear’ actress Emmy Rossum are leaving the series. For those who are new to ‘Shameless’, Cameron and Emmy played the role of Ian Gallagher and Fiona Gallagher respectively.

It is also reported that ‘Shameless’ Season 9 will have 14 episodes instead of usual 12 (episodes). The upcoming season is the longest series of John-Wells’ American comedy-drama TV series. Fans may be wondering if the upcoming season may be the last one, but that’s not the case as there is no such confirmation on it.

Earlier, when Season 9 was declared in 2017, Showtime assured that the series would be divided into two halves, one of it would be premiered in September (already premiered on September 9 this year) and the other half to be in January 2019.

Here is the official synopsis of the upcoming season:

“Fiona’s (Emmy Rossum) downward spiral continues and Debbie Gallagher (Emma Kenney) steps in to pick up the slack at the Gallagher house. Carl Gallagher (Ethan Cutkosky) and Kelly Keefe (Jess Gabor) continue their relationship in secret despite her father’s strict expectations. Ingrid Jones (Katey Sagal) ropes Frank Gallagher (William H Macy) into fulfilling her lifelong dream. Tami (Kate Miner) shows Phillip Gallagher aka Lip (Jeremy Allen White) a different version of adulthood.”

According to Express, the upcoming Season 9 will pick up from episode 7 when Fiona had to get back to home. We had already seen how her (Fiona’s) awful financial condition left her with no other alternative but to sell off her apartment to her business partner and get back to the Gallagher household. One of the depressing issues for the viewers was Fiona’s beau’ secret wife who was also exposed to leaving her heart broken.
