Delhi Revenue Minister Atishi has taken proactive steps to ensure the comfort and safety of devotees participating in the Kanwar Yatra.
In a statement, the government disclosed that preparations for the Yatra began one-and-a-half months ago. Atishi met with district magistrates and senior officials to review the meticulously planned arrangements. Around 200 camps will be established across key districts, particularly in East Delhi, North East Delhi, and Shahdara, which serve as primary entry and exit points for Kanwariyas.
''The Kejriwal government will ensure all necessary facilities for Kanwariyas as part of this year's Kanwar camps,'' Atishi said. The camps will feature waterproof tents, furniture, toilets, water, and medical facilities. Local dispensaries will also be connected to the camps, and CAT ambulances will be available for emergencies. Hospitals have been instructed to make special arrangements for Kanwariyas' treatment.
''Preparations are in full swing, and district administrations have been directed to submit weekly reports on their progress,'' Atishi noted. This initiative happens during 'Savan,' a holy month where lakhs of devotees travel to Haridwar to collect water.
