Netflix has officially announced the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the second season of FUBAR. The action-comedy series, a standout project by creator Nick Santora, initially premiered on May 25, 2023. Following a fierce bidding war, Netflix secured the rights to what would be Schwarzenegger's significant television debut, over fifty years into his celebrated acting career.

FUBAR Season 2 Production Updates

The production for FUBAR Season 2 kicked off on April 29, 2024, in Elora, Ontario, Canada, with filming scheduled to wrap by August 12, 2024. This announcement was first made during Netflix’s TUDUM event on June 17, 2023, which also featured bloopers from the inaugural season. Schwarzenegger, who recently underwent a pacemaker installation, confirmed his return to the set in April, signaling robust progress for the new season. Based on the timeline of the first season, which was filmed between May and August of 2022 and premiered in May 2023, the anticipated release window for Season 2 could be around the second or third quarter of 2025.

FUBAR Season 2 Returning Cast

While Netflix has yet to confirm the full cast list for the upcoming season, expectations are high for the return of key characters. Anticipated to reprise their roles are:

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Luke Brunner, the seasoned CIA agent facing retirement who finds himself pulled back into action.

Monica Barbaro as Emma Brunner, Luke’s daughter and CIA counterpart, whose complex relationship with her father adds a rich layer to the series.

Milan Carter as Barry, and Fortune Feimster as Roo, both of whom provided substantial support and comic relief in the first season.

Additional cast members likely to return include Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Jay Baruchel, and Barbara Eve Harris.

FUBAR Season 2 Plot

FUBAR Season 1 introduced us to Luke Brunner, a CIA agent on the brink of retirement, who teams up with his daughter Emma to thwart an international criminal enterprise. The series blended action-packed sequences with comedic elements, all while exploring the complexities of familial relationships, particularly between Luke and Emma.

The finale of the first season escalated the stakes dramatically, with the Brunner family exposed and becoming targets. The personal drama intensified, especially around Emma's conflicacies, her wavering romance with Carter, and a surprising kiss with Aldon. Luke's attempts to reconcile with his past, particularly with Tally Brunner, were left unresolved, promising more depth in the upcoming season.

For Season 2, viewers can expect an expansion of these narratives, with new villains introduced and the action dialed up. The unresolved personal issues are set to intertwine more deeply with the espionage elements, creating a richer narrative tapestry.

Creator Nick Santora revealed at the Netflix Tudum event, "Season 2 is bananas. We are coming up with real fun surprises for FUBAR fans in Season 2 for sure." He also hinted at more complex challenges for the characters, adding, “In Season 2, we're going to go in knocking—there might be a rat in the kitchen. And what are they going to do about that?” This tease suggests that the extended Brunner family will face significant new dilemmas in the upcoming season.
