Amazon Prime Video has announced an exciting addition to its upcoming spy thriller series, "Butterfly." The show, which has already garnered attention with its intriguing plot, welcomes three renowned South Korean talents to its cast: Park Hae Soo, Kim Tae Hee, and Kim Nayoon.

"Butterfly" is a six-part series that promises to enthrall its audience with a gripping narrative and stellar performances. The storyline revolves around David Jung, portrayed by Daniel Dae Kim, a former US intelligence operative based in South Korea. His life takes a turbulent turn when he faces the repercussions of a past decision. In a thrilling twist, a lethal young agent, Rebecca Hardesty, played by Reina Hardesty, is assigned to track and eliminate him.

The series draws its inspiration from a BOOM! Studios graphic novel. Created by Arash Amel, co-written by Amel and Marguerite Bennett, and illustrated by Antonio Fuso and Stefano Simeone, the graphic novel sets a solid foundation for the series' narrative.

Joining Daniel Dae Kim and Reina Hardesty, the newly added cast members are set to bring unique dimensions to the story. Park Hae Soo, celebrated for his role in the global sensation "Squid Game," and an Emmy nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, is expected to deliver another memorable performance. His diverse acting portfolio includes significant roles in "Prison Playbook," "Chimera," "Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area," and "Ruthless Operation."

Kim Tae Hee and Kim Nayoon, whose past works have been widely acclaimed, are also poised to add depth to the series with their artistic prowess.

"Butterfly" is co-created and executive-produced by Ken Woodruff and novelist Steph Cha, with Woodruff also serving as the showrunner. This series marks another significant collaboration for Daniel Dae Kim, who, along with John Cheng, is executive producing under their 3AD banner, thanks to their first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios. Other executive producers include Stephen Christy and Ross Richie of BOOM! Studios, Arash Amel through The Amel Company, and co-executive producer Adam Yoelin for BOOM! Studios. The direction of the first two episodes is in the capable hands of Kitao Sakuri.

Greenlit by Prime Video in May 2023, "Butterfly" is anticipated to be a remarkable addition to Amazon's array of captivating shows. With a blend of intense action, deep-seated intrigue, and a cast of exceptional talents, the series is set to make a significant impact upon its release.
