The Empress Season 2 Begins Filming! Know More

Great news for fans of the Netflix show 'The Empress'! The filming for Season 2 has officially started. After the success of Season 1, everyone's excited about what's coming next. In fact, Netflix DE tweeted on September 27 that the cameras are now rolling. Check the Tweet Here:

'The Empress' is a German show on Netflix about the young life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Katharina Eyssen wrote the show, but Bernd Lange, Janna Maria Nandzik, and Lena Stahl helped too. The directors are Florian Cossen and Katrin Gebbe.

The story is about a young girl, Elisabeth Wittlebach, who at 16 marries Franz Joseph, the Emperor of Austria. She finds it hard to fit in at court, especially with her strict mother-in-law. But Elisabeth wants to make a difference in her new home.

Not long after Season 1 ended, Netflix said on November 9th, 2022 that they're making a Season 2.

Katharina Eyssen, who's in charge of the show, thanked fans on Instagram. She said that many people in Germany and around the world loved their show. She feels the story shows the power of love and the bravery to be different. They're glad to keep telling this story.

In Season 2, we'll see what happens after the events of Season 1. Elisabeth got in trouble for helping a young girl, which upset the royals. She feels trapped and starts to party with Franz's brother, which ruins her good name. When the royals want her to go back to Bavaria, she finds out she's pregnant. She doesn't tell her husband. But when she tries to leave, the public stops her. She tells them about her baby, hoping for their support.

The big questions are: Will the public support her? Will she forgive her husband? And what will her strict mother-in-law do now?

In the show's history, Elisabeth had her first baby, Sophie, 10 months after her wedding. But her mother-in-law took the baby and didn't let Elisabeth care for her. Later, when Elisabeth had another daughter, her mother-in-law was very mean because it wasn't a boy.

We don't know yet when the new episodes will come out. But if things go well, maybe we'll see them in early 2024.

As for the cast, we'll see many actors from Season 1 again. Devrim Lingnau will be back as Elisabeth. We'll also see Philip Froissart, Melika Foroutan, Johannes Nussbaum, Jördis Triebel, and Almila Bagriacik. We might also meet some new actors in the new season.
