Now You See Me 3: Will the sequel happen? Latest updates and speculations

Reportedly, the third movie in the heist-thriller series, Now You See Me 3, is currently being made. The first film, released in 2013, featured a group of talented magicians who were also thieves. Although the movie received mixed reviews, it made a lot of money. This led to a sequel called "Now You See Me 2" in 2016, which didn't do as well as the first one. Now, there is talk about a third movie.

In 2022, director Ruben Fleischer, known for working on other movie series, confirmed that he would be directing Now You See Me 3. While there have been some updates about the progress of the film, we don't know when it will be released yet. Fans are hopeful that it will come out soon. In September 2022, Nathan Kahane, the president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, told Variety that the highly anticipated film will be released soon, which reassured fans.

There are rumors that Benedict Cumberbatch, famous for playing Sherlock, might join the cast of Now You See Me 3. The movie will introduce new characters and focus on a different kind of heist, so they need fresh faces. Some fans think Cumberbatch might play a villain or a cop in the movie.

One of the main challenges in making Now You See Me 3 is getting the original cast back together. The first two movies had a diverse group of actors, including Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Lizzy Caplan. But since 2016, the actors have been busy with other projects, so it's been hard to bring them all back for a third movie. Harrelson has been doing small independent films and big blockbusters. Eisenberg and Dave Franco have been focusing more on directing than acting. Caplan has been working on popular TV shows. So, it's been tough to find a time when they are all available.

Another challenge is whether Now You See Me 2 did well enough to make a third movie. It would be expensive to bring the big cast back and create the same impressive settings as the first two films. Also, Chinese moviegoers didn't show as much interest in American blockbusters recently, so the movie might not make as much money internationally.

Even though Fleischer has been hired to direct Now You See Me 3, "it's still uncertain if the movie will actually happen. He is working on other projects, including a potential movie based on the video game Jak & Daxter. Lionsgate, the company making the film, is also focused on other movie series like John Wick and making more Hunger Games prequels. So, Now You See Me 3 is not their top priority right now.

While there is still hope, for Now, You See Me 3, it seems unlikely that it will be made soon. The original cast might not be available, and it doesn't seem like a priority for the people involved in the series. As time goes on and Now You See Me 2 becomes more distant, the chances of a sequel happening decrease. Maybe if Now You See Me 2 had been more successful, things would be different.
