The White Lotus Season 3 will deliver more of the enthralling mix of dark humor and suspenseful drama that will undoubtedly captivate viewers.
According to hints from creator Mike White, The White Lotus Season 3 will be based in Asia and will delve into the themes of death, Eastern religion, and spirituality. This installment will follow the first season's exploration of wealth and the second season's exploration of sexuality. To bring this vision to life, the production team will be shooting in Thailand, specifically at one of the Four Seasons properties located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, or the Golden Triangle.
During an interview with Deadline, Francesca Orsi candidly discussed the success of The White Lotus and provided insights into the upcoming season. Orsi expressed surprise at the series' phenomenal popularity and acknowledged the exponential success it achieved in Season 2. She expressed high hopes for Season 3 and praised the genius of the show's creator, Mike White. Orsi hinted at the excitement that Season 3's pitch generated, describing the meeting with White as leaving them even more ecstatic than before. She emphasized their gratitude for being in business with White, emphasizing his exceptional talent. Here’s what she said.
"We never predicted it would be the phenomenon it has been and a lightning in a bottle though he’s delivered it exponentially from a success standpoint in Season 2 as well, and we have high hopes for Season 3. We were excited about Season 1. Then Mike’s pitch for Season 2 had us all gleeful, and I’ll say that for Season 3, sitting down with him for lunch, we left feeling even more ecstatic than we have been up to this point. We’ve been very, very fortunate to be in business with Mike White; he is a truly a genius.
[Season 3 is] an exploration about spirituality versus the ego. And it’s set against the Eastern religion. But beyond that, I can’t really speak to some of the character ideas that Mike has."
In terms of casting, Natasha Rothwell has been confirmed to reprise her role as spa manager Belinda Lindsey in The White Lotus Season 3, serving as a link between the seasons similar to Jennifer Coolidge's character, Tanya McQuoid, in Seasons 1 and 2. While Mike White mentioned his friendship with Coolidge and hinted at the possibility of her return in a prequel season, Connie Britton, who appeared in Season 1, has officially stated that she will not be part of Season 3. However, Britton has expressed her interest in returning to the black comedy series at a later time. While embracing the anthology format, White has also expressed his desire for a potential "all-star season" in the future, which would bring together beloved characters from different seasons in an exciting crossover event.
We will come up with more on The White Lotus Season 3 as soon as we get any updates. Stay tuned!
