Exciting news for fans of the hit HBO series Euphoria - Season 3 is on its way with even more twists and turns in the storyline. However, fans will have to wait a while longer as filming won't begin until the latter half of 2023, indicating that Season 3 may not get a release date until mid or late 2024.
In an interview with Vogue, the show's costume designer, Heidi Biven, recently teased a huge story change in Season 3, hinting that there could be a five-year time jump and that the main cast is "not in high school anymore."
"I’m really excited to read the scripts. There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future, and that they’re not in high school anymore. Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore. I mean, it might be a total trip. Who can say? But knowing Sam’s brain, it’s gonna be exciting, and he will challenge all of us, because he won't want to repeat himself. It’ll be something new for the audience to discover."
With the possibility of a five-year time jump in Euphoria Season 3, fans may be in for some major changes to the show's storyline. The main characters could now be focusing on their lives after high school, and it's even possible that some of them may have skipped college to pursue a career.
In addition to that, the time jump could lead to the characters drifting apart, with some of them moving out of East Highland. This could mean that each episode of Season 3 may focus on one character's individual story before ultimately crossing over with the others at some point.
In the meantime, fans are eagerly anticipating the premiere of Season 3, which promises to challenge audiences and bring something new to the table. The show's lead, Zendaya, has also reportedly agreed to a new contract with HBO, which is described as "a big re-negotiation."
Euphoria Season 2 has ended with Rue's return but her relationship with Jules is still on the rocks. While talking with Life and Style mag, Zendaya who plays Rue, expressed her hopes for the character's future storyline, stating that she wants to explore Rue's sobriety journey and how it may affect her relationships.
The actress stated: "We carried her all the way to hopefully what is rock bottom and a dark moment, and hopefully by the end leave with a sense of happiness and joy that there is hope for her in the end."
The actress also mentioned a time jump at the beginning of Season 3 to THR, that could see the characters out of high school and into their post-graduation lives. Zendaya is excited to see how Rue copes with the challenges of sobriety in this new phase of her life and hopes that audiences will be left with a sense of hope and joy by the end of the season.
"I think it'll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school," she said. "I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look,” she added.
