Sweet Home, the popular South Korean drama series, is set to release its second and third seasons. While the premiere date for Season 2 is yet to be announced, actress Go Min Si, who plays a pivotal role in the series, recently shared the news of the official conclusion of filming for both Season 2 and Season 3 on her Instagram account.
Sweet Home Season 1 was released on December 18, 2020, and quickly rose to popularity, becoming the first South Korean series to enter Netflix's Top 10 list in the United States. Within just three days of its release, the show ranked No. 1 in 8 regions and was within the Top 10 in 42 regions. It was viewed by 22 million paid subscribers worldwide in the first 4 weeks of its release and appeared in the Netflix top 10 in more than 70 countries.
The show, based on the Naver WEBTOON of the same title by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-cha, follows Cha Hyun Soo, played by Song Kang, who is on a quest to start afresh after his family's accidental demise. However, as he moves into his new apartment, strange things start happening, and the eerie events soon spread throughout the nation as humans transition into monsters. The residents around Cha Hyun Soo fight to survive, making for an exciting plotline that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Go Min Si, who gained immense popularity following her role in Sweet Home, was seen in the hit series Love Alarm, where she played the role of Park Gul Mi, an envious cousin of the protagonist, Kim Jo Jo. Her work throughout her filmography has earned her a variety of awards and accolades, including the Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2021, she won the KBS Drama Awards' Best Couple Award for her chemistry with Lee Do Hyun in Youth of May.
Last year, Go Min Si reunited with her Youth of May co-star Lee Do Hyun for the South Korean web series Romantic Reincarnation. The duo's effortless chemistry on screen was one of the highlights of the show, and Go Min Si's role cemented her image as a promising actress.
Fans of Sweet Home are eagerly awaiting the release of Season 2. However, with Netflix not including the show in its list of upcoming movies and TV shows for October 2022, it seems unlikely that the series will be released anytime soon. Fans could assume that the K-drama may get a late 2023 release date, but for now, they will have to wait for an official announcement regarding the premiere date of Season 2.
