Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is nearing its return to screens, with Season 3 set to debut in April 2023. The season will continue where we left off at the Swordsmith Village Arc from the previous season, and it will begin with a special one-hour episode instead of the standard 22-minute runtime.
Furthermore, the first episode of Demon Slayer Season 3 will air early as part of a global theatrical screening event. This event is similar to the Mugen Train screening, and it will also include episodes 10 and 11 of season two. Fans can catch the event in various locations, including UK cinemas on March 1, over 1,700 theaters in the US and Canada on March 3, Paris on February 25, Berlin on February 26, Mexico City on March 4, Seoul on March 11, and Taipei on March 19.
Demon Slayer Season 3: Tanjiro's new quest in the Swordsmith village
Based on the popular Japanese manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a kind-hearted boy whose family was massacred by bloodthirsty demons. In a bid to save his sister Nezuko, who has turned into a demon, Tanjiro embarks on a journey to fight against the demons and find a cure for his sister.
The upcoming third season of Demon Slayer will be based on the ninth arc of the manga, the Swordsmith Village arc. Spanning approximately 25 or more manga chapters, this arc is similar in length to the Entertainment District Arc, covered in the second season. However, the story will not end there, as the original manga features another arc titled Final Battle Arc, which may pave the way for a fourth season in the future.
The third season will begin with Tanjiro traveling to the Swordsmith Village to replace his sword, which is in dire need of repair. While waiting for his sword to be fixed, Tanjiro encounters enemies, which he and the new character Muichiro Tokito must face together. The season will also delve into the upper-rank demons and how they are handled.
New characters will also feature prominently in Demon Slayer Season 3, including Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji and Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito. In a teaser poster released by the creators, fans can expect exciting new developments as the story continues to unfold.
Demon Slayer fans can look forward to an action-packed third season, as Tanjiro and his allies continue their quest against the demon horde.
In April 2022, Crunchyroll and Ufotable released a video that not only recapped some pivotal moments from the first two seasons but also featured glimpses of the Mist and Love Hashiras.
More recently, Ufotable unveiled a video showcasing the 'Upper Moon' demons, the most powerful members of Kibutsuji's Twelve Kizuki, some of whom are set to make an appearance in Demon Slayer Season 3.
Demon Slayer Season 3 cast: Returning and new actors
The upcoming season of Demon Slayer is expected to feature the return of the main cast members who will reprise their roles, including Natsuki Hanae (as Tanjiro Kamado), Akari Kito (Nezuko Kamado), Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu Agatsuma), and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke Hashibira).
In addition to them, we could also see the return of other actors like Takahiro Sakurai (as Water Hashira and Giyu Tomioka), Reina Ueda (as Tsuguko Kanao), Toshihiko Seki (Muzan Kibutsuji), Toshiyuki Morikawa (Kagaya Ubuyashiki), and Ai Kayano (Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho).
The third season will also introduce two new key players, Love Hashira and Mist Hashira, who will be portrayed by Kana Hanazawa and Kengo Kawanishi, respectively.
