The upcoming American comedy horror series Wednesday has gotten a release date.

Wednesday will premiere all of its episodes on November 23 — which will show on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, teases Netflix on its official Twitter account.

The series is based on the character Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are the showrunners of the series. Netflix previously released a trailer, giving fans a look at Jenna Ortega in the titular role. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Narcos star Luis Guzmán as Morticia Addams and her husband Gomez, respectively, and Gwendoline Christie as Nevermore's school principal Larissa Weems.

Luis Guzmán (Code Black, Traffic) will potray Wednesday's father Gomez Addams, while Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Darling Buds of May) will play her mother Morticia Addams, it has also been confirmed.

Other cast members include Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones), who will play Larissa Weems, the head teacher at Nevermore Academy, and Isaac Ordonez will play the role of Wednesday’s brother Pugsley Addams.

In the series, Wednesday attends the prestigious and ghostly Nevermore Academy where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago—all while navigating her new relationship.

According to the gothic school's recruitment website, www.NevermoreAcademy.com, the story of the academy begins in 1791 after being founded to “provide an educational haven” for Outcasts with supernatural gifts.

“Named in honor of its most famous graduate, Edgar Allan Poe, the boarding school is home to werewolves, vampires, sirens, gorgons, and a spectrum of other students with uniquely chilling gifts,” reads the academy's founding story. “Nestled in the secluded woods of New England, the school grounds are just a brisk 25-minute walk away from the picturesque town of Jericho, one of the original Pilgrim settlements.”

In a statement, Jenna Ortega said, “Wednesday is currently a teenager, and we’ve never seen her as a teenager before.”

She continued, “Her snarky, snide remarks might not necessarily sound as charming when they’re coming from somebody who should probably know better than a 10-year-old girl. That was a balancing act. We didn’t want to make her sound like every other teenage girl, but we also didn’t want to make her too ignorant. And we’ve never seen her on screen this much. Any other time you’ve seen Wednesday, she’s been the one-liner, the end of a joke, she always hits it, and I think that’s what people really love about her. But in this show, every scene is Wednesday. There’s an opportunity to give her a bit more dimension, and she becomes a bit more of a real person, which I don’t think we’ve ever seen before.”

Wednesday premieres on Netflix on November 23, 2022! Check the trailer and the posters below.
