The Delhi High Court has given Delhi University (DU) the green light to commence the counting of votes for its student union elections, originally held in September. The decision signifies a significant relief for student bodies eager for clarity.
The court stipulated that the vote-counting should begin on or before November 26, contingent on the adequate removal of defacement such as posters and graffiti, which has historically delayed results. This ruling marks the first such month-long delay in DU’s history.
ABVP, the student wing of RSS, welcomed the decision, urging swift action from DU authorities and advocating for future electoral reforms. Similarly, NSUI, associated with the Congress, called for a transparent counting process, ensuring students’ trust in the system is maintained.
