A controversy surrounding Kashmiri students sporting long beards at a government nursing college in Karnataka was peacefully resolved, according to an official statement on Sunday. The Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences addressed the issue following concerns raised over restrictive appearance policies at their Holenarasipura branch.
The matter gained attention when the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association wrote to Karnataka's Chief Minister about the difficulties faced by the Kashmiri students. Allegedly, students were being compelled to maintain a clean-shaven appearance to partake in college activities, sparking debates on personal freedom and discrimination.
Despite initial allegations of discrimination, the college director, Dr Rajanna, stated that talks with students led to an agreement on maintaining neatness in their dress and beard trimming. The students have since agreed, and the situation has been resolved, ensuring a harmonious educational environment once more.
