In a bid to combat the rising pollution during winter months, schools across Delhi have been ordered to sprinkle water in open areas to manage dust and abstain from using firecrackers. This directive is part of a broader strategy designed to tackle air quality issues in the city.

The Directorate of Education, in its circular released on October 7, outlined this plan and emphasized the need for every educational institution, whether government-run or private, to follow the Winter Action Plan 2024. As part of the compliance, schools are required to submit a monthly report detailing their actions taken under the plan.

A comprehensive 18-point agenda forms the backbone of these efforts, including the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan on Air Pollution Control (GRAP). Schools have also been instructed to organize campaigns on pollution control, including initiatives on e-waste management and wetland restoration, to raise awareness among students.
