Wollongong, Oct 10 (The Conversation) — Self-regulation is a vital skill that develops in children as young as three years old, allowing them to manage their thoughts and behaviors to achieve goals and effectively engage with their peers.
My colleagues and I have researched methods that parents can employ to bolster their children's ability to self-regulate, emphasizing its importance in achieving academic success and building friendships.
While natural parental instincts incline toward protecting kids from difficulties, it's advantageous to let them face challenges. This encourages flexible thinking and problem-solving, key aspects of self-regulation that have long-term benefits.
