On Monday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Amabadas Danve accused the Maharashtra government of failing to provide school uniforms to 45 lakh eligible students, despite the deadline having already passed.

Under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's 'One State One Uniform' policy, the uniforms were to be distributed to students from Classes I to VIII in Zilla Parishad schools by August 15 this year. However, only 24 lakh students have received the uniforms, which Danve claims are of sub-standard quality.

Danve shared a photograph of a poorly-stitched uniform on social media, pointing out the poor quality and accusing the government of making fun of students. He further took a jab at state school education minister Deepak Kesarkar, alleging corruption in the uniform distribution process. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar echoed these concerns, stating that the uniform supply contract was awarded to a textile firm from Gujarat, hinting at possible kickbacks.

In defense, Minister Kesarkar explained the initiative involves around 20,000 women stitching the uniforms, which naturally leads to some delays. Kesarkar assured that good quality fabric is being used and that any improperly stitched uniforms will be re-stitched.
