Education Minister Atishi announced on Thursday that the Delhi Government has launched the 'Business Blaster' programme for the 2024-25 academic session, allocating Rs 40 crore as seed money. The announcement was made during a press conference.
Atishi said the programme aims to engage around 2,45,000 students by offering them the opportunity to transform their innovative ideas into startups. ''The Business Blasters programme for the 2024-25 session will commence soon, and Rs 40 crore has been allocated for this initiative,'' she added.
According to the minister, approximately 40,000 ideas and startups, including ventures in perfume, chocolate, eco-friendly products, and technology, have already begun operations under the programme. Atishi highlighted that the scheme aims to foster entrepreneurship and self-employment among students, turning them into job creators rather than job seekers. She noted that last year's success saw students from Delhi government schools establishing their own startups and providing employment opportunities to others. This year, the focus remains on empowering students to become job providers before completing their studies.
