In a ceremonious function at Raj Bhavan, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday honored 27 teachers with state awards and felicitated another with a national award.
The governor paid homage to former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birthday is commemorated as Teachers' Day. In his congratulatory speech, Shukla stressed on the critical role of teachers in imparting education and values, referencing the National Education Policy 2020's provisions on student-teacher relationships.
Highlighting the Prime Minister's Schools for Rising India scheme, Shukla noted that 180 schools in Himachal will be developed into exemplary institutions. He also expressed concern over the drug menace among youth, announcing a forthcoming district-level anti-drug awareness campaign.
