Tragedy struck Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday when a shooting resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals and injuries to four others. According to reports from MSNBC, an unnamed law enforcement source confirmed the casualties.
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office announced that a suspect is now in custody, and the incident is under control. Barrow County Schools stated that students were being released around midday in a controlled manner.
Images from live aerial TV broadcasts depicted multiple ambulances stationed outside the high school. CNN reported witnessing a patient being loaded into a medical helicopter on the scene. The Sheriff's Office confirmed that the alarm was raised at 10:23 a.m., prompting an immediate response from various law enforcement agencies and Fire/EMS personnel. Additionally, the FBI's Atlanta field office has sent agents to assist local law enforcement, according to spokesperson Jenna Sellitto.
