Schools in Aizawl and Kolasib districts of Mizoram have remained closed for the third consecutive day, following relentless rainfall that began earlier this week.
Authorities decided to close schools on Tuesday after severe rainstorms on Monday triggered landslides in various locations. Public notices highlighted that the safety and well-being of students were the primary concerns behind the decision.
The Aizawl district administration stated that significant rainfall had led to road inundation and mudflows, which warranted the suspension of school attendance. Inputs from the India Meteorological Department and other sources influenced the decision, and no casualties have been reported so far.
